Find Your Farmer at Local CSA Fairs

Ft. Collins, CO—February 14, 2014

This spring, Local Food Shift Group is partnering to create Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) Fairs in three locations along the Front Range—in downtown Ft. Collins on March 1, downtown Boulder on March 15, and in Denver on March 25.

In downtown Fort Collins, the Be Local Farmers’ Market kicks off the first CSA Fair on Saturday, March 1st, 10am-1pm at the Opera Galleria, 123 N College.  Michael Baute, who co-owns Spring Kite Farm and coordinates the Fort Collins fair, is expecting more than twenty farms to be selling CSA shares. “We’ll see the full range of farm offerings: vegetables, fruits, berries, micro-greens, chicken and eggs, beef…there’s a CSA model in Fort Collins that aligns with your family’s values, and chances are there’s a CSA farm or a pick-up location in your neighborhood, too.”

Boulder County Farmers’ Markets and Impact Hub Boulder co-hosts a CSA Fair on Saturday, March 15, 9am-Noon at Impact Hub Boulder, 1877 Broadway, suite 100. “A CSA Fair connects people face-to-face with farmers, discovering all the ways to directly support them, learn about food production and enjoy local food. They hear about summer opportunities and season extenders including winter CSAs and shares from controlled environment enterprises. It’s a celebration of farming and innovation,” says Brad Burger, Manager of Boulder Farmers’ Market.

The Denver CSA Fair on Tuesday, March 25, 5pm-8pm at The Horse Barn, 1031 33rd St., Denver is produced by Denver Urban Gardens, Grow Local Colorado, Slow Food Denver and Veterans to Farmers. “By creating this one-time event where farmers can secure shareholders early in their planning and decision-making, we help them save valuable outreach time and resources,” reports Dana Miller of Grow Local Colorado. “We love being part of their success!”

Local Food Shift Group, a Boulder-based nonprofit, supports CSA Fairs as part of their mission to strengthen community-based food systems and foster regional food security and resiliency. For more information on CSA Fairs and other farm/food events, visit  or call 303-494-1521.
